Thomas A. Burns is a lifelong Batavia, New York resident and devotes his practice to representing individuals charged with crimes and penal law and vehicle and traffic law violations throughout Western New York. Tom received his B.A. Degree from the University at Buffalo in 1983, his M.A. from the University of Buffalo in 1985 and his J.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1988. He has been practicing criminal defense from his Batavia offices since 1988. Tom has extensive trial experience handling misdemeanor and felony cases to verdict in Courts throughout Western New York. Tom is a member of the Genesee County Bar Association and was admitted to practice law in New York State in 1988. Tom and his wife Kelly are residents of the City of Batavia and parishioners at Mary Immaculate Parish in Pavilion, New York.
Tom’s criminal defense work includes representing individuals charged with a wide range of criminal and vehicle and traffic law offenses including drug offenses, assault, sex offenses, theft offenses, Driving While Intoxicated offenses (alcohol, drug and combined influence), marijuana offenses, homicide, burglary, and other offenses and crimes defined by the Penal Law of the State of New York. Tom also frequently represents individuals charged with vehicle and traffic offenses including speeding offenses, cell phone violations and reckless driving.
Tom’s area of practice includes the Western New York counties of Genesee, Orleans, Wyoming, Livingston, Monroe and Erie. With offenses in Batavia, New York Tom is located between metropolitan Buffalo and Rochester and the main interstates of I-90, the New York State Thruway, I-390 and I-490 in the Rochester region and I-290 in the Buffalo region. His offices are in close proximity to the college campuses in Rochester and Buffalo as well as SUNY @ Brockport, SUNY @ Geneseo, Monroe Community College, Genesee Community College and Erie Community College. He frequently appears in the Darien Town Court (Genesee County) the geographical venue of Darien Lake theme park, and Darien Lake State Park.
